Lefton Cape Lookout Lighthouse

This resin lighthouse replica is part of the Lefton Historic American Lighthouse Collection Flashing Beacons series. It was issued in 1998 and comes new in the original packaging.

This lighthouse takes 2 AA batteries to illuminate the lighthouse and the adjacent building.

The first lighthouse at Cape Lookout, in Beaufort, North Carolina, was built in 1812, but was too short, at 96 feet, to adequately light the treacherous Lookout Shoals, also known as the Horrible Headland, and a rendezvous point for the infamous pirate, Blackbeard.

This figurine is a replica of the replacement and current lighthouse, which stands at 150 feet tall. The distinctive diamond pattern differentiates it from similar lighthouses at Bodie Island and Cape Hatteras.
