Pennywhistle Lane
The Pennywhistle Lane collection is a collection of miniature figurines from Colour Box Miniatures. The collection was first issued in 1993, the company?s 10th anniversary year, in the UK.

The collection is designed and sculpted by Peter Fagan. The central characters in the collection are based on actual toys owned by Peter. Peter has imagined an old cottage on Pennywhistle Lane where the toys reside, along with an assortment of bric-a-brac and a family of mice. His wife, Frances, has fleshed out their background stories to bring each character to life.

This collection was introduced into the US in 1994, when the Enesco Corporation became the US distributor for Colour Box products. The collection name was also used as an umbrella name for all prior Colour Box offerings in the US, which were previously known as Adorables, with the exception of the teddy bears, which were branded as Centimental Bears. The US versions of the collections are identical in sculpting to the UK versions, but are often painted in different color palettes.

The mice characters in this collection are known as the Whistlers and they live in the attic of 1 Pennywhistle Lane.

Each character in the Pennywhistle Lane collection comes with a story card, describing the background of the character. The story card also includes a genuine British copper penny, which is still legal tender today. The penny is described as a magical penny, which can be used to start the piano in the corner of the attic, to bring the attic to life. Similarly, the Centimental Bears collection includes a 'Centimental' Penny, although this one is not legal tender anywhere.
