This David Winter cottage is part of the Tiny Series. It depicts the cottage of Anne Hathaway, situated in the Shottery area of Stratford-upon-Avon. Anne, of course, is famous for marrying William Shakespeare when he was 18 and she was 26.
This cottage was introduced in 1980 and retired in 1982. It measures approximately 1.375" tall and 3.375" wide.
The base of this cottage is a little unusual. The first thing to note is that the felt is signed by David Winter. However, there is no name label identifying the cottage and the felt looks in surprisingly good condition given its age. We know nothing about the history of this particular cottage but, while we have no doubts about the authenticity of the cottage or the signature, we are of the opinion that the felt may have been replaced at some point and that David?s signature is much newer than the cottage itself.
