This David Winter sculpture, also known as Coalminer's Row, is part of the Midlands Collection. Coal mining used to be a huge industry in Nottinghamshire, and still exists there today. This sculpture depicts the type of housing that would have been occupied by the mine employees.
Rows of houses (called 'terraced' housing in England) were built quickly by mine owners to house their employees and were designed to be functional and basic.
This piece was introduced in 1988 and retired in 1997. It measures 4.5" tall and comes in the original box with certificate of authenticity.
